WebX-rays are also rather penetrating. Column densities corresponding to A V = 5 (N H ~ 10 22 atoms cm-2) only reduce fluxes by ~ 3 in the Chandra and XMM-Newton soft X-ray bands. One can see in the 2 - 10 keV X-ray surveys that approximately half of the brightest objects are highly reddened in the optical and often invisible in the UV.
