It can be used on any raw wood anywhere in the house. Timbor is made from the element Borate, which is a natural occuring element in the earth. It is very safe and non-toxic. Bora-Care is the same, but comes pre-mixed with an ethylene glycol (anti freeze) base which is also a surfactant and 'makes water wetter' so it soaks in more and isn't leached out so easily.
