WebApr 29, 2013 · I've messed with GFS gold foils, and while I'm a big fan of a lot of GFS pickups, specifically the dream '90s and mean '90s and surf 90s and the newer GFS Tron series, as well as the Tallboy tele neck pickup, their gold foils aren't great in my opinion You must log in or register to reply here. Similar threads WebJan 20, 2015 · The Gold Foils sound great! Chimey highs that aren't spikey and nice warm, smooth lows. There is almost an acoustic quality to the sound, probably because the pups are slightly microphonic. If I tap them it can be clearly heard through the amp. This is a sweeter humbucker with PLENTY of clarity on the high end. WebOct 18, 2024 · I have recently tried the GFS 'gold foil' pickups, P90's in a Strat, and the humbuckers in an old Ibanez Blazer. Both sets of pickups are ok but a bit underwhelming. The exception is the GFS GF Ferrite P90 bridge which I think is actually pretty good. The pickups I tried were the ferrite magnets. I may try the regular ALNICO P90's at some point.
