WebNov 29, 2024 · Fund names and greenwashing: ESMA consultation On 18 November 2024, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published a consultation on the text of proposed draft guidelines relating to the use of ESG or sustainability related terms in funds' names (the Draft Guidelines). Background Webto greenwashing was to be addressed to the EBA, EIOPA and ESMA. On the basis of such mandate, the ESAs have been asked to work on the following main areas: 1) definition of the role of NCAs on greenwashing issues, 2) identification of green-washing practices in the market, and, 3) effectiveness of supervision in addressing greenwashing.
